I had been meaning to go to Lucette for some time, but just never got to it. Lucette Brewing Company has been in Menomonie, WI since 2010 and opened a new facility at its current site in 2015. By the looks of it they have just done a remodel and added a beautiful event pavilion. The pavilion is pretty big and appears to be perfect for big get togethers, like a wedding or reunion. They have a main floor bar area with seating for dinner. Off to the left are the steel brewing tanks you expect to see in a brewery. An upstairs area for dining was open as well. When walking in the front door, there was a large unfinished area that I am unsure of what it will be, but perhaps more seating and another bar area.
If you drink beer, you've probably heard of Lucette. No where do they say their flagship beer is The Farmers Daughter, but I will call it that as I think it put Lucette on the map. A Blonde Ale made with coriander and grains of paradise, it has a malty flavor with fruity and spice notes. I've always like it and think it is a refreshing ale. I did not drink one while there, however. Since that would be anti-climactic, I had to go with something else. I chose a Toasted, which is a Marzen style lager. The maltiness and bitterness are both pretty mild and I thought its sweetness stuck out to me most. It was a good choice considering we've hit fall with a coolness in the air. They have a dozen other beers on tap, including a Kolsch, a Maibock, a pair of hazy IPAs, a Mexican style lager, a Dopplebock, an American Stout, a few other variations on IPAs and a beer which I wanted to get to next, called French Connection. Labeled as a Biere De Garde, its description of prominently malty with caramel notes makes my mouth water, but I had to get going after a quick stop. However, I have plans already to come back for dinner or lunch sometime soon.
They bake wood fired pizzas right before your eyes at the bar and I watched a dozen or so delicious pies go by. If I had not just eaten earlier, I would've dug into one, but my next stop was determined at that moment. I was also told they have awesome pretzels and cheesy breadsticks. A proper review of this brewery would consist of having a pizza and a couple of beers, so I apologize for the incomplete assessment. The brewery was clearly an incomplete entity as much of it was still under construction or had just been finished, so we will have to meet again. I made a quick look for a tshirt, but did not see any, so I came up empty there. Nevertheless, if you find yourself in Menomonie and are looking for somewhere to grab a beer and something to eat, I do recommend you give Lucette a try. There appears to be a decent selection of beers, the facility is newly remodeled and maybe you can get a look at the new event area. I think by next spring they will have a patio area out front all completed, which will make Lucette a great spot. Heck, it's right on the Red Cedar bike trail and the river and easy to find.
